Reflecting on 3 years of Dear Keepsake

Sometimes, the best friendships come from the most unexpected places. Take us, for instance. We both met at work and ended up forming a bond that would lead to something pretty incredible. Kacey once described Amber as "the most terrifying person I have ever met," while Amber thought of Kacey as… well, "just… Kacey."

Our shared love for jewellery was no coincidence. Amber’s family had been immersed in the jewellery business for years, so it was only natural for her to follow suit. For Kacey, jewellery was the only career she’d ever known. Our shared background in the industry made our eventual partnership almost inevitable.

Dear Keepsake was born out of a bright idea in 2021 when Amber and Kacey, while still working in high-end jewellery manufacturing, spotted a gap in the market for affordable and quality jewellery for our generation. 

 

We had naively thought that simply setting up a website and adding stock would magically lead to sales. Oh, we where so wrong! Days passed and nothing sold. That’s when we decided to start selling at our local weekend markets. We realised that gaining brand awareness was crucial. We were confident that once people experienced our quality and saw our prices, they’d fall in love with our products. 

Fast forward one year later, we both took the leap and went full time with Dear Keepsake. Our journey has been one of determination and grit. Sure, social media might make owning a business look like a series of glamorous beach days and luxury cars, but the truth is, it’s a lot of hard work. Getting to that level of success takes perseverance, and keeping it going requires even more effort. 

There’s no script for the challenges we face, and each day brings its own set of hurdles and triumphs. We've learned to embrace the unpredictability, finding joy in small victories and learning from setbacks.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been connecting with our customers on a deeper level. Seeing how our pieces have touched their lives and knowing that we're part of their cherished memories has been both humbling and inspiring.
